YPARD-Sierra Leone Recent Awareness and Meeting Up-date

After holding its first awareness meeting on April 30, 2012 at Njala University Faculty Building, bringing together 44 students from various departments of the University, YPARD-Sierra Leone held its second awareness meeting Wednesday, May16, 2012 at Sierra Leone’s National Agricultural training center. The meeting brought together 58 participants from various departments of the Institution. There was a full presentation on YPARD activities. YPARD’s flyers were printed and distributed to participants. The meeting was very successful and interactive. Participants agreed for the formation of YPARD local group at the institution and for holding regular meetings every month. YPARD’S first local group meeting was also held at Njala University on Thursday, May 17, 2012 with thirteen participants in attendance. The participants were issued YPARD membership form and printed copies of YPARD General Presentation for 2012 to enable them get more familiar with YPARD activities. It is our hope that our membership will grow in subsequent time with more awareness. We have also put in place a strategy called “EACH ONE, BRING ONE” which means each member should come along with a person at every meeting. Some lessons learned in recent time during our activities are as follow:
  • Some youths have more interest in YPARD
  • They find a lot of interest in the four strategic objectives
  • Building local group at the grass root  level is challenging as there can be little cooperation from the start
If you are from Sierra Leone and would like to discuss to get involved with YPARD, contact YPARD Sierra Leone representative, Dans Johnson! We are eager to hear from you!
