3 Doctoral Researchers in Food and Agricultural Economics -- University of Göttingen

The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (Chair Groups of Profs. Matin Qaim and Meike Wollni), Faculty of Agricultural Economics, University of Göttingen (Germany) is recruiting 3 Doctoral Researchers in Food and Agricultural Economics as soon as possible for a period of three years. The positions have a salary scale of TVL E13 (50%).

The doctoral researchers will carry out socioeconomic research related to agricultural production, food consumption, and nutrition in East Africa (especially Kenya). Using randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and household surveys, the impacts of pro-nutrition innovations and new approaches of community outreach will be evaluated. The positions will be based in Göttingen, but will require repeated travel to East Africa.


Successful candidates will have an outstanding Master’s degree in agricultural economics, development economics, or a related discipline, strong analytical skills, experience with quantitative research methods (especially econometrics), proven interest in development topics, strong computer skills, and excellent command of the English language. Experience with data collection in developing countries will be a plus.
