EFITA is the European conference dedicated to the future use of ICT in the agri-food sector, bioresource and biomass sector. It was launched and is supported by the European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (EFITA). The first EFITA was held in 1997, and 2017 is the 11th of the series. Montpellier, France, had the pleasure to welcome the event already in 2001 and is most happy to do it again. 200 participants are expected from around 30 countries, providing a nice atmosphere for knowledge sharing and thinking the future of ICT technologies within the agri-food and bioresource sectors.

Date and venue

Montpellier is most happy to welcome this 11th edition from 2 to 6 July 2017. The event will take place in the pleasant site of the renowned Montpellier SupAgro school, France.

Call for papers

The topics covered at the conference are detailed in the “conference topics” section here. Invited sessions are also welcome, as well as workshops.

The call for papers is open until February 28th. The call for demonstration until April 18th. These calls are open to both public and private researchers and engineers. Acceptance of oral communications and posters is decided on the basis of an extended summary.

Submission of papers

The submission for EFITA 2017 is organized with multiple tracks that correspond to the groups of topics in the call. Open invited tracks in EFITA 2017 may follow same procedures. There are 8 regular tracks (click here to see details). In each regular track, 3 types of communications are possible: oral presentation, poster presentation, demonstration.  Please also complete carefully the topics/keywords of your communication, to ease the work of track chairs for assigning submission to reviewers. Each paper will be reviewed by two reviewers.

Selection criteria for submission acceptance

  • Full compliance with submission deadlines and procedures ;
  • Relevance to conference topics ;
  • Scientific quality and clarity of the extended abstract; quality of technical content for demonstration forms;
  • Completeness of reported work ;
  • Originality of the contribution.

Authors should be aware that a maximum of 2 oral presentations can be given for a single registration. Authors who would like to provide more than 2 papers for oral communication should check with their co-authors so that enough authors can register and attend the conference.


Registration for the conference will be on-line. The opening of registrations takes place in February.
